![]() ![]() So I am going to use the Community Edition of the IntelliJ IDE, it provides a lot of stuff I use daily, and am glad it offers a great diff tool that can handle files and folders. The first, I think, good solution I found was a replacement for the awesome tool that is MELD because at the time of writing this, the Mac OS port is not yet finished and building from source is not something I want to do as a noob Free Size 39.1 MB Developer’s website Downloads 2667 App requirements Intel 64 Mac OS X 10.1.5 or later Try our new feature and write a detailed review about Meld. It's not that bad, I was able to reach my primary goal: run the required apps from Microsoft native and take advantage of the Mac Book Pros hardware, but I am now faced with a new problem: I have to find replacements for the software I got accustomed to on my Linux OS and environment. You can browse and view a working copy from popular version control systems such such as CVS, Subversion, Bazaar-ng and Mercurial. You can compare two or three folders and launch file comparisons. That is why I opted to replace my beloved PC with a Mac, I figured that the Unix DNA of Mac OS would ensure that enough of my Linux workflow would be able to survive the transition. Meld helps you compare files, directories, and version controlled projects. You can compare two or three files and edit them in place (diffs update dynamically). It's a graphical diff tool, so if you've ever used the diff command and struggled to make sense of the output, Meld is here to help. Opendiff works not badly, but it is a bit slow to edit the files directly. Image by: Jonas Leupe on Unsplash Meld is one of my essential tools for working with code and data files. And I couldn't find any good alternatives. Now, while there are some "hacky" ways to workaround these "limitations" when having a daily driver that is a PC running Linux, the company policies do not allow for such things. I have been looking for a good 'Diff'ing software for Mac OSx 10.8.3, something like 'Meld', which has a clear GUI and it is possible to edit the files directly in the GUI. It enables users to compare files, directories plus version controlled programs. After trying other alternatives online Ive downloaded this one. I recently "had to" switch from PC to a Mac because of the lack of support from Microsoft for their collaboration software, I mean Office 365, Skype for Business and of course Microsoft Teams. Meld is a lightweight GUI diff and merge tool. Great download for windows, mac or linux. ![]()
